Brad Clark in race to be next Hamilton mayor

Stoney Creek Councillor Brad Clark is running for mayor.

The clerk’s department confirmed the nomination late this morning.

Clark, a former provincial PC minister, is the first new mayoral nominee to file since Mayor Bob Bratina announced last week he will not seek re-election.

Friday, December 6, 2013Why him? “I can pick up the phone and call ministers; I know them,” Clark said shortly after registering.

He noted he came to council being asked to run for mayor, but wanted council experience first. “Now it’s the right time for me and the city.”

Clark said he spent the weekend pulling together old campaign team and feels there is a real desire from citizens to have a mayor who is an ambassador for jobs
“We did that as ministers at queens park. We did that all the time.”

Clark said he’s been thinking about it for more than a year. He had promised not to run against Bratina. “Candidly, he surprised me.”

Friday, October 4, 2013Clark has suffered from health issues, but says his arthritis has improved dramatically. “My rheumatologist urged me to run.”

The list of candidates for mayor includes: Brad Clark, Brian McHattie, Crystal Lavigne, Michael Baldasaro and Don Ross.

More to come. (Hamilton Spectator)

Please note…

This website contains satirical commentaries of current events going back several decades. Some readers may not share this sense of humour nor the opinions expressed by the artist. To understand editorial cartoons it is important to understand their effectiveness as a counterweight to power. It is presumed readers approach satire with a broad minded foundation and healthy knowledge of objective facts of the subjects depicted.
